Hello,
This is the fourth incarnation of my personal blog (possibly not my last). Up until now, each one was written under an anonymous name. The prior three where created under a nom-de plume out of fear of the the "My Space Syndrome". You know the deal, some college aged kid attends a party, someone with a camera snaps a photo of them taking a monster bong hit or flashing his or her naughty bits and ..bang...within hours it is part of the electronic reality we all dwell in. Not a tremendous sin, but one that comes back to bite them in the ass once the head of HR at their first job interview finds the incriminating pics and proceeds to shred their resume. Oppps, another promising career killed before it begins due to living in the public eye.
When creating a blog you are faced with a tremendous decision, if you want(or hope) to ensure your anonymity you forgo the ability to share the existence of the project with most everyone from which you would like to hear feedback. However, if you do author it under your real name you soon find yourself in a self imposed mine field. What if I voice an opinion or story that is unpopular, offensive, illegal, or worse detrimental to my income stream (aka Job).
Therefore, the argument boils down to this;
Do I toil in anonymity, free to share as much as I desire only to languish in obscurity by hiding behind the mask of a pseudonym, or do I use my real name, share it with others and obtain the interaction I desire at the cost of occasionally having to censor myself and risk offending those that read it? This time i have chose the latter over the former.
This is a blog and by definition it is the 21st century answer to the ultimate self indulgence. Suddenly, we all find ourselves with a voice and have been self-convinced that an ongoing rambling memoir of the minutia of our lives is so compelling, it would be a crime to deprive the world of the treasures contained there in. i won't deny this fact nor am I all that ashamed of it. i figure, if you are amused or angered by something I write, than I have succeeded in sharing something of meaning. If the post stir no emotion, well there are only 6 billion other places for you to go to get your fix. Beat it scumbag, I am right and you are...not (LOL my first self righteous opinion of the blog).
Not all post will be timely, not all will be long. Most will be absolutely uninspiring and without merit or consideration for a second, but if you happen to read something that provokes a laugh, a grimace or a fit of rage, please, please feel free to respond. The forum is always open.
